Week 4

1. What is an ostinato?
An ostinato is the repeated pattern throughout a piece of music.
2. What is experimental learning?
Experimental learning is the way of teaching that allow students to be creative and engage intellectually in problem solving.
3. How can you facilitate students stopping and starting together in rhythm?
As the teacher you could provide them with visuals such as drawing the rhythm on the board. You could also have the class come together in a circle, like in the videos. This allows the students to watch one another and get involved as a class.
4. Ask any questions you might have regarding the content of this video.
When teaching the lessons, how many activities are best? I know in the video you said around 3, is that just for when teaching adults ?

Week 3

1. One way to introduce a rhythmic poem to students would be through echo imitation; this is when the teacher introduces the content in a specific way and the students repeat it in the same way. It is best to dive right into the lesson therefore giving specific extensive instruction prior to the lesson is not needed.
2. When teaching a rhythmic poem to students it is best to use rhythm to introduce your students to the poem. Repetition and saying each line of the poem with a specific rhythm exposes the students to the words in the poem at a different cognitive level. A higher level rather than they would be if the teacher was just speaking the poem without rhythm.
3.The notes Ta and ti-ti come together throughout the rhythmic poem to create the beat. Ta represents a full note where a ti-ti represent a smaller portion of a note.
